The Puch 125 RL and the Puch 150 SR are two of the iconic scooters from the early 1950s by the Austrian brand Puch. Puch started as a bicycle manufacturer in Graz, Austria, but grew into one of the biggest names in the motor vehicle industry. After World War II, they also started making scooters, and these soon became very popular across Europe.
The history of Puch:
Founded in 1889 by Johann Puch in Graz, the company initially built bicycles. After the war, they also focused on motorbikes and scooters. They were known for their innovative designs and sturdy, reliable machines. In the 1950s and 1960s, Puch scooters were a familiar sight on the streets of Austria and surrounding countries. Puch grew into a leading manufacturer, mainly thanks to their solid engineering and practical designs.
Puch 125 RL
This scooter had a 125cc two-stroke engine and a classic design.
Thanks to the torsion bar suspension, the scooter rode comfortably, even over bumpy roads.
Puch 150 SR
The 150 SR was slightly more powerful and had a 150cc engine.
This model was given a more modern look in 1958 thanks to the redesign by French designer Louis Lepoix.
The torsion bar suspension and double seat bench made this scooter suitable for longer rides and was ideal for someone who wanted more power.
What makes them so special:
Puch scooters were known for their reliability and solidity. They were perfect for everyday use, both around town and beyond. What makes these models truly unique is that they simply have timeless designs. Whether you choose the 125 RL or the 150 SR, both scooters offer a combination of functionality, quality and style.
Today:
These scooters have become true classics. Few original Puch 125 RLs and Puch 150 SRs can still be found, making them highly sought-after collectibles. Especially the 150 SR, with its sleek design after Louis Lepoix's modification, is now highly sought after by vintage scooter enthusiasts.
