After the Second World War, Giovanni Parrilla a fuel pump repair company. In 1946, he and Alfredo Bianchi built their first motorbike, a 250cc racing bike. To cover costs, the duo started producing street bikes, giving birth to the Parilla brand.

In 1952, the Parilla Levriere introduced, a 125cc scooter that was upgraded to 150cc in 1953. In the US and UK, the scooter was sold as the "Greyhound", and could be recognised by Borrani rims and a telescopic front fork. The scooter became popular worldwide, but was replaced by the Slughi in 1958.

The Parilla Greyhound later influenced the design of the Zündapp Bella, which had similar air tunnel to cool the engine without a fan. With its clean lines and powerful engine, the Greyhound was ahead of its time. The scooter was loved by a wide audience for its excellent performance and timeless design. In Belgium, the Parilla was distributed by Novy, a historic brand of bicycles, mopeds and motorbikes and today produces kitchen appliances.

Today, the Parilla Greyhound is a sought-after collector's item, with both technical value and a rich history in the Italian scooter industry.
