Lambretta is the legendary scooter brand founded by Luigi Innocenti and part of the vehicle division of his company, Innocenti S.p.A. The name Lambretta is derived from the river Lambro, which flowed past the factory in Milan and symbolised the speed and elegance that the scooters exuded.

After World War II, Innocenti cleverly responded to the growing need for affordable and reliable transport. This turned out to be a golden move. Lambretta scooters offered a perfect alternative to expensive cars and cumbersome motorbikes. Over the years, several successful model series were introduced, including the famous D and LD series, equipped with powerful 125cc and 150cc engines. These models combined sleek design with excellent performance, turning them into beloved classics.

Innocenti was known for its drive for innovation and technological advancement. The Lambretta TV series set new standards in the scooter world. With its impressive speed, the Lambretta TV (Turismo Veloce) even left the Vespa 150 GS behind. Safety was not overlooked in the process: the Lambretta TV175 was the very first mass-produced scooter with a disc brake on the front wheel, a revolutionary development at the time.

The rivalry between Lambretta and Vespa drove both brands to ever better performance. This resulted in the development of a powerful 200 cc version, with which Lambretta once again proved its competitive edge. Even after the bankruptcy of Innocenti, Vespa only later managed to take over the market, but the records set by Lambretta at the time remain untouched to this day.

Lambretta is not just a scooter brand; it is a symbol of Italian innovation, style and speed. Despite production ceasing in Italy, the brand remains loved by collectors and enthusiasts worldwide, and its legacy lives on in the iconic designs and pioneering technologies that put Lambretta on the map.
